Questions about AI? This section will highlight frequently asked questions about AI usage for students. These questions were developed based on themes from a collection of research.

1. What is Generative AI, and how can I get started using this tool?

Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a group of technologies that can generate content that resembles something produced by humans. Written content is mostly created with AI tools, but AI tools can now generate images, sounds or music, applications, and even website code. You can explore AI tools by visiting OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Microsoft’s CoPilot, or Google’s Gemini.

2. By using AI tools in my course work, will I be accused of cheating?

The use of AI tools is based on your instructor's decision. Please be sure to review your Course Syllabus to find that course’s use policy.

3. Does PHSC have an AI Policy for students?

Currently, PHSC does not have an AI Policy for students. Yet, each instructor might have an individual policy on their Course Syllabus. Be sure to review your Course Syllabus for more on the AI policy.  

4. What are some ways that I can use AI in my coursework?

AI tools are very powerful, and they can help you in multiple ways. Students can use AI tools to assist in project brainstorming or developing a topic for a research paper. These tools can be used to help edit content like grammar, APA, or MLA writing styles. AI tools can be an incredible study tool, by generating flashcards or developing an outline of content. Using AI to complete your coursework is at the discretion of the instructor and course content. Please review your Course Syllabus for the appropriate course policies on AI usage in your coursework.
